chase_acow: The Muppets Animal ringing the triangle (random animal triangle)
Thought I might be having some sort of cardiac related unpleasantness on Friday night, so I did what any debt fearing American would do and waited until Monday morning to call my nurse practitioner for my covered yearly check-up. They managed to squeeze me in today and after talking about my symptoms, how my heart rate still hadn't regulated back down to normal, and everything going on with my job, we settled on it probably being a several days long eruption of all the anxiety and stress I've been shoving down for so long. So I went and got some beta blockers and a low dose serotonin and we'll see what happens.

I am once again applying to literally everything at my university I think I could do a remotely good job at and will keep these freeloaders in kibble and wet food.

I enjoyed the movie Ballerina a lot. The fight scene using only the grenade belt was fun.

I suffered the movie 28 Years Later. It was a trailer bait and switch.

Glen Powell's new movie dropped a trailer. I enjoyed the first Running Man, and this one somehow looks just as, if differently, unhinged. I borrowed the book from the library and hopefully this weekend will be dead at work so I can read it.

Twisters is a very adequate disaster movie. The science is not splat on your face dumb. I was pretty happy with the effects. And Daisy Edgar-Jones is a good leading actor. Pay her all the money and give her any job she wants. It was more sad and less romance than I expected. I'll be seeing it again next weekend.

Glen Powell did his thing. I will love him forever.

But the surprise of the night was Katy O'Brian! I've had a crush on her since she did a single episode of The Rookie, and she was SO FUCKING GOOD in Love Lies Bleeding as a bodybuilder who falls in love with Kristen Stewart. She only has a bit part in this movie, but I love her and would die for her.

When Women Were Dragons is on sale for $1.99 on Kindle and I promise you'll find that much enjoyment in this book. Here are the user generated content warnings from Storygraph - a book about women is gonna be a little brutal, but I thought it was absolutely worth it.

I caved and bought another 6 months of paid time. I needed the icons. Also Tumblr is about to crash and burn, so I need an outlet. : )

I did not enjoy Furiosa. )

I did really like Hitman on Netflix. I was afraid it wouldn't live up to the hype and that Glen Powell would be cringy, but it was a very low-key entertaining movie that showcases a lot more of his talent. The ending will hit and miss. I think it's a rom-com-noir? Is that a thing? I'd say it leans into the rom-com, so if you're okay with that you will enjoy all of it.

I am also in love with Ron (the hitman alter ego). Though then I realized Glen was really out there doing promo for other movies with Gary hair when he had to know how to style it like Ron. Dude. I was not a fan of Gary hair.

Holy crap.

Glen Powell did Men's Health and I may never recover.

From Wired: tl;dr - More heat in the atmosphere leads to more moisture and more instability. But wind shear, the other component of a tornado, may actually decrease over time with climate change. Nobody knows what will happen!

But we do know that a sequel to Twister is coming out next summer.

Let me tell you how irritated I was when I first heard. SO irritated! Twister is a treasured movie from my college years when I went through a Bill Paxton phase and watched so many bad movies. But Twister is great! We watched it every time my roommate touched up my orange chunky highlights (it was a time, okay?) and we had everything timed so I knew exactly when to pause and jump in the shower to rinse the color out. I love this movie, and it does not need a cash grabby sequel to besmirch it! Bill Paxton deserves better!!!

Then they announced Glen Powell to star in it with Daisy Edgar Jones and I harumphfed a fine. This is the only way I would see it. Glen Powell and Bill Paxton were in Red Wing together early in Glen's career, and when he got hired as John Glenn (the first American to orbit the Earth) in Hidden Figures, he called Paxton to geek out about space (Apollo 13 is another of my favorites!) So, of course, I'm now watching bad movies for Glen Powell, but I'm also glad it's him.

Let me set this scene for this disgustingly cute short video: His nephew is super sad that he has to go home, so Glen is trying to comfort him that they'll see each other real soon like when Glen comes to Oklahoma and is excited to destroy a town. (hopefully it's Norman.)

Unfortunately I've also learned this now and it would have been cool:
From Variety: tl:dr - “I tried to get it made,” Hunt said back in 2021. “With Daveed [Diggs] and Rafael [Casal] and me writing it, and all Black and brown storm chasers, and they wouldn’t do it. I was going to direct it… We could barely get a meeting, and this is in June of 2020 when it was all about diversity. It would have been so cool.”

Okay, so when my Glen Powell obsession started and I saw he was in a movie with Bill Paxton, I immediately tried to watch it. It was no where. Not for sale anywhere streaming, and only available on DVD. Cool. I get me a used copy for less than 10 bucks. WELL IT NOW UP ON YOUTUBE FOR FREE!

In a small Texas town in present day, abandoned orphan boy, Francis, is trying to find a place to call home.

A young couple takes in a mysterious foster child to raise on their farm. But when the boy grows up to be a handsome young man, the husband suspects that his wife has feelings for their charge, and the family starts to dissolve. The young man must venture out on his own to discover the world around him, and realize the power of marching to your own drum.

I'm not saying it's a good movie. I'm saying that I was entertained, and there is a glorious montage of Francis working on the farm which includes a gratuitous belly shot with artfully scaped man hair. )

New fave Glen Powell was on GameDay this morning as their guest picker for Texas v Alabama. Dude has a similar football philosophy, and most importantly, picked my team.

how does he look so good in a mullet? )

I am still very pleased by my Rooster/Hangman fic where Hangman forces everyone to watch Texas v Oklahoma.

Also, super tired of working. I go in for a ten hr shift to cover the football game tonight and it is day 11 of 12 consecutive I had to go to work days because my days off got eaten by a coworker catching covid. I only had to work 6 and 4 hrs each for my days off, but it still decreases my de-stressing time. I don't think I've caught covid yet since the beginning, I desperately don't want to get it and I am still mostly being safe about things, but a week off without using leave would be awesome.

Mackie is almost 6 months now, and he's a little 9lb bowling bowl who gallops across the house at all hours and is testing new things he can jump on. He's gonna be such a big little asshole cat, I am excited to see how his personality settles in.

I want the Bros movie like right now. I love this trailer! )
